Bleeding and Cuts in Winter
For some reason, when you get a cut in below-zero temperatures, the wound has a difficult time healing, so it goes on bleeding. If you don’t have a first aid kit, bandaids, or a clean rag, you need to know how to stop the blood.
Don’t cauterize it. Unless you know what you are doing, you’ll just blister the area, and it won’t stop the blood.
What worked for me was I rubbed charcoal into the wound and then clean clay. It’s likely that the charcoal was enough, but soon after I rubbed in the clay and the blood stopped. The charcoal and clay are both able to absorb viruses and bacteria to prevent infection.
If the cut is slightly more severe and you can’t wrap it, put a glove on the hand that it is located on.
