Archery?
Some will tell you, you're an idiot to take up archery in the 21st century. One thinng is certain however, you are not an idiot of you do something amazingly, you can't be an idiot to do archery (dynamic, non anchored) amazingly.
You may then say (i to myself), "no, from a practical perspective, with guns, there is no need to learn how to use a bow".
First, it beats a sport where I can't make the materials to do the activity. I cant make a gun. Making ammunition is also something that needs external manufacturing means - realistically.
Second, what was the last useless thing you forced your child to focus on? Math? Religion? I mean, sure you may take up either as a life long pursuit; but if you don't --- man, those wasted years doing calculus...
Or maybe, you'd rather throw on some nut snaching tights and ride around your neighborhood thinking you Lance Armstrong, at 50? (Which is OK I guess - those bikes go pretty fast - still a dork in tights though) Or tell your kid to kick - a - rubber - ball.....? Or throw around a chunk - of - tar - whith - a - stick - on a surface that is only naturally around for half a year? Or, hop on a scooter....ugh... I know you're thinking "what is wrong with all that???". Everything - from my perspective.
Third, let's look back at the gun topic. We'll, I need a license. I need a store. A guns no fun to cary in the woods. Eight pounds of dead long iron is no fun to run and jump with. Can't arm yourself in a foreign forest.
I did null the following points with the first however, but since we have to do something in life and not sit around, a mentally void yogi, humans developed the illusion of reason to preoccupy our time.
I'll stick to the bow. Will you?
