Making Quick Axe Sheath

Cut a length of raw hide to cover edge with a minor overlap on both side when folded.Use the thickest hide you can find for this aplication.

Soak the rawhide piece until saturated and cut slits on the edge of both sides. 

Find a long peice of rope or thong and wrap as shown, ensuring all holes are used.

Once dry, unwrap and shove a thick pice of buckskin or other leather in the slot.

You need to thread only a few of the holes for every day removal and sheathing.
