Hide count for field article manufacture.

 My list of the the outdoorsmans most important items, ordered most important to least and the number of hides needed to make them. All very important to make eventually.

1. Moose Moccasins - one spilit hide will make several mocs. The other, raw hide half, will make a good supply of the sole which need not be smoke tanned. 

2.. leggings - two deer hides or three if you include a loin. Shorts can be used in place of a loin or some other rag. Short protect from bugs. 

3. Shirt or hoodie - you need four for a hoodie which is the best option. You want to protect your neck and head from bugs.

4. A bag - one.
