Wood Bows

You know not archery untill you learn on a bow of your own sweat, energy, and love.

Wood bows have more feedback than carbon.

Wood bows should be heat treated to fire fast. Be careful as this will make the back more prone to lifting and fracture cracking.

When a frey in the back appears I set it with a raw hide sleeve. Soak a rectangle of raw hide to cover the frey (lifting split) section, back and frayed front. Sew the raw hide into a loose loop, and flip inside out. Have wet hide glue hot, wet, and ready. Slide the inside out loose sleeve onto the limb, just above the section it will cover. Clean surface by removing oily, diry wood, with a knife. Saturate the clean frey area to be covered with hot glue. Saturate underside of the sleeve, and quickly flip the sleeve over and down onto the glue covered limb. Sinch, pre stiched seam and allow to dry for a day or so. If time is short, a tight buckskin wrap will keep the lift until the hide sleeve is used. A frey is better addressed sooner than later.

Wood bows will need a day to day care; this includes heat treatments, soaking in oil, recurving (on occasion) , and spot checking for damages
