Bead Spread Bivi and Mosquito Cover
A natural and helpful tool afield is a simple cotton bead spread. They can be used to contain warmth when used as a wrap, a first cover for the ground, your cary pack, a lay on cover for your fur on sleep system in very low presipitation, and a light shelter for your face and sleep system in heavy snow.
If used in conjunction with locally sourced logs to elevate the cover, these found poles must be stripped of pointy branch ends, and that the poles are safely set up such that they won’t fall on your face.
If a tear or hole is made - learn to sew.
If bugs aren’t an issue, these are far easier to cary into the bush than a plastic tarp or tent.
The bead spread is also a safer option to cover your face for a bite free night. Tie a thong to the spread 2/3rds up and canter, then secure the thong to a low branch, above your face; while you sleep, drape like a tent over the face. The mesh bug nets are said to be saturated with some of the worst chemicals, so the bed spead is a safer option, though a little stuffy.
