How to Keep Layered Pants Up Without Belts

I dont use belts because they constrict my waste, so I opt for suspenders. When outdoors however, its often the case that layered pants are required. Fitting too many layers into one suspender clamp will not only damage to clamp, but the hold will not be secure.

To remedy said issue, I have arrived at the following solution which does however involve puncturing the fabric of your pants if you do not take the time to sew a good loop.

On the rim of you pants where the clamps of your suspenders would grab your pants, conservatively puncture under the top seam then slide a strong string or leather strap (or sew securely a loop with a strong fabric like buckskin) through. Tie the cord to creat a final loop which has roughly an inch wide gap.

Do this for all the pants you will layer.

Use old suspender straps for suspenders. I cut away the clamp as i find they are not reliable or weaken. I was using old clamps that would not clamp on the loops of the pants, a robust bunch, worn from my days of trying to clamp five layers of pants between the teeth - if you have a newer pair, it may not be the case that they will not clamp to the leather or rope loops of the design sugested above, and tight clamps may suffice.

Having tried clamps, toggles shown bellow to hitch the loops, and fast loops and finding major draw backs to both, wanting to stick to "do it simple, with my own hands" style, I now use simple bow tie ties : you can adjust the hight of wear, they are secure through use and they are fast to remove when you need to take a shit, the minor draw back is they may take a little more time to re tie them after a poop, or to take off or put on layers.

If you want to make your own strapps, just use leather strap or ropes connected with a low x for the back suspender conection.

Rope suspenders.

Toggles. Always loose the pant loop and the pant wear hight is fixed, usually too low.

Ties for bow tie ends. Use long strapps - its just easier to find behind you and tie a bow tie to hold loops.
