How to keep your foot dry and warm, naturally, for free, in wet, cold, and soggy conditions.

You may have a boot that has a small hole, compressed/spent liner, no liner, a foot that sweats a lot, or otherwise gets cold in snowy temperatures.

In stead of buying a new polyester/plastic liner that will cost money and pollute, simply stuff your boot or the space between the rubber and your sock with dry grass you can acquisition from your immediate environment.

Dry leaves also work. At the end of the day, remove the frosted or damp grass - wich is usually the base layer - and replace it with fresh dry grass. Cut dry grass, don’t pull it from the ground as this will damage the roots of the plant you are taking it from and increase the chance of pulling damp grass and roots.

Dry pine needles (not spruce) also works if you can't find dry grass; however, this can be sappy, messy, and tend to lump up.

This technique can be rough on your woven socks, so a thin buckskin moc will make a good second sock.
