Warning on Rubber Boots

I don’t often use store bought foot wear, but when the temperatures are near zero, the snow is melting so moccasins turn to sponges. Rubber is my current go-to.
With any rubber soled boot and mild temperature, you may be tempted to wear them overnight, outside your sleep cover.

If you aren’t moving, the moisture within will freeze and the boot will turn to a small freezer for your foot. ALWAYS, be prepared to remove rubber soled boots overnight and cover your two feet, together, with a breathable and dry layered material.

The moisture that will accumulate means many problems during the day too. When the temperatures are freezing and you need to wear something on your foot it MUST be made of a mostly breathable material. Do NOT attempt to wear a rubber boot in bellow freezing temperatures for an extended period.

If its at freezing temperatures and rubber is your only option, you must make an effort to cut dry grass and lace the inside of the boot, replacing daily to help keep your feet warm and dry.
